Pałac Łomnica
Łomnica Palace offers a glimpse into the home of landowners, servants' rooms and a postwar school. In the Large Palace, the exhibition “Three Centuries of Life at Łomnica Palace” occupies 18 rooms on two floors and in the vaulted cellar. Historic furniture, works of art and everyday objects create interiors from successive periods, from the eighteenth-century study of linen merchant Christian Mentzl to a classroom from the 1950s and 1960s.
The palace is associated with the von Küster family, who owned the estate from 1835 to 1945. After the war, a state farm operated here and the residence eventually fell into ruin. From 1991, the former owners' family and their friends worked to rescue it. Today's museum tells the story of both earlier life and the buildings' return to use.
An existing multimedia guide supports the visit. A tablet with headphones, or your own smartphone connected to the local network, provides a room map and 60 short films, including content for children. A brochure can also be borrowed during the visit. The Basic programme includes a 13-minute film about the palace and its residents; longer films belong to other visit options. Individual visitors do not need to book admission, while groups and activities require prior arrangements.
Outside are a nine-hectare park beside the Bóbr, with free admission, and the farm estate with its Kitchen Garden, shops and cookery activities. The garden supplies vegetables, fruit and herbs to the palace restaurants. The House of Prayer relocated from Rząśnik houses an exhibition about Silesian Protestants. The Small Palace serves as a hotel. Workshops, group tours and hotel services are separate parts of the offer, so a standard museum ticket does not include every activity.
Pre deti
At Łomnica Palace, you can see how life in one house changed over time. The exhibition's 18 rooms bring together different periods: a linen merchant's study, an old kitchen and a school classroom. Children studied in the palace after the war. Later, the building deteriorated until work to save it began in 1991.
A map on a tablet or smartphone helps you explore the museum. Short films also tell stories about children and the people who worked in the palace. You can borrow a brochure, and the Basic programme includes a film about the house and its residents. Special activities, such as calligraphy or gardening, need separate arrangements.
A park beside the Bóbr stretches next to the palace. The farm estate has a Kitchen Garden whose harvest goes to the restaurants, and shops with regional products. There is also a House of Prayer: its wooden components were rescued in Rząśnik and moved to Łomnica. Each part of the estate shows a different aspect of its life.
