Góra Skobla educational path
A woodland path links fortifications with changing vegetation and views across the Biebrza valley.

The Góra Skobla path crosses the fortress's former approaches. Its name comes from the Russian general Mikhail Skobelev, not the commander of Osowiec's defence in 1915. The first section passes through pine woodland. Trees of different ages reveal younger and older parts of the forest, while the undergrowth includes maple, spindle, hawthorn and rowan.
Further on, the landscape changes to oak-hornbeam woodland. Oaks, limes, ashes and hornbeams grow here, with wild ginger, anemones, Solomon's seal and martagon lily on the forest floor. This change in woodland habitat is one of the path's themes, alongside the area's military past.
Shelters survive beside the trail. The tower on the hill overlooks the Biebrza, Fort II Zarzeczny and Osowiec village. Early spring brings opportunities to watch geese, ruffs and ducks. Looking beyond the trees reveals the terrain whose crossings the fortress once defended.
