Painted galleries and private pews
Biblical paintings, family coats of arms and craftsmen’s emblems on four levels.
Jazyk obsahu
The aisles contain four tiers of galleries, providing additional seating for the congregation. They were not built at the same time: extra levels were inserted between the original galleries, increasing capacity without rebuilding the church’s basic structure. The fourth tier carries scenes from the Old Testament, while the second illustrates the New Testament. Noah’s Ark, the Tower of Babel and Moses appear in the upper cycle. The lower one follows the life of Christ, events from the Acts of the Apostles and visions from Revelation.
Other balustrades display family coats of arms, views of noble residences and images associated with crafts. The decoration preserves traces of the different groups that helped form the congregation: the nobility and the town’s guilds. Biblical paintings stand alongside symbols of families and trades. The ensemble also includes private family pews. The Hochberg pew combines the arms of the Hochberg and Schaffgotsch families, while the Schweinitz family has its own pew. Heraldry records the names of former benefactors alongside the religious subjects that dominate the older galleries.

The balcony-like structures are called galleries. There are four levels in the aisles. They were added gradually to make room for more people. Paintings and coats of arms cover their railings.
The highest, fourth tier shows stories from the Old Testament. Noah, the Tower of Babel and Moses appear there. The second tier presents events from the New Testament, including the life of Jesus.
Other decorations are linked to families and craftspeople who supported the church. A coat of arms identifies a family, while a guild emblem represents people working in the same trade. The church also has private pews, separate seating areas for families. In the Hochberg pew, their coat of arms is paired with that of the Schaffgotsch family.
