O exponátu

Two timber beams form the Bogucin oil press: a lower pine stępa and an upper oak strzała. A screw made from cherry wood raises and presses down the upper part. Beside it stands a wooden grinder fitted with metal rollers, a flywheel and a crank for crushing seed.

A metal pan above a hearth with a chimney was used to heat the crushed material. An axle and crank allow the seed to be stirred during roasting. The grinder, pan and press illustrate the sequence of tasks that turned seed into pressed oil.

The machinery is original, while the surrounding building was made in 1977 as a replica of a structure from the 1920s. It is rectangular, with a timber frame, boarded walls and a thatched roof. The owners also farmed, and oil pressing provided extra work during Advent and Lent. The mill remained in use almost until its equipment was moved to the museum.
