About

The wooden waiting room served passengers at Kiliński Square in Zgierz, the terminus of the line connecting the town with Łódź. The service opened on 19 January 1901. Trams arrived at the New Market, as the square was then known, rather than the town's main market square. The waiting room belonged to this suburban transport network.

Inside were a passenger room heated by a stove and service rooms. In later years, it also housed a Ruch newsstand and space for tram staff. A large clock had faces visible from two sides of the building. The small wooden structure combined passenger facilities with staff accommodation. It was more than a roof over a stop: passengers had an enclosed room in which to wait for departure.

In June 1984, the worn-out waiting room was dismantled under conservation supervision. Its components were stored at the Brus depot. Years later, it was rebuilt and installed in the museum's open-air collection in 2008. The structure seen today is therefore a reconstruction, rather than a building preserved unchanged at its original site.
