About

Kolejkowo Warszawa

A boat passes beneath Gdański Bridge, residents visit graves at Powązki, and a protest takes place outside Parliament. Kolejkowo Warsaw recreates the capital through buildings and small scenes featuring miniature figures. Familiar places such as Plac Zbawiciela and the Royal Castle appear alongside everyday city life.

The layout is built at a scale of one to twenty-five. Trains travel along the tracks while cars move among the buildings. Changing lighting shows the same models in two different ways: nine minutes of daylight are followed by four minutes of night. A complete cycle therefore lasts thirteen minutes.

The exhibition also features a thunderstorm with real rain, accompanied by lighting and sound effects. Movement, weather and small scenes complement the architecture, drawing attention both to the cityscape and to individual people going about their business.
