Content language
Drzonów’s T-72 A was built at Bumar-Łabędy in Gliwice in 1985. The manufacturer called this batch T-72 M, while the Polish Army used the designation T-72 A. Different letters in documents do not necessarily identify different vehicles. The tank has a low silhouette, sloping armour and a 125 mm gun.
An automatic loader reduced the crew to three soldiers: a commander, gunner and driver-mechanic. This example began its service in 1986 with the 68th Mechanised Regiment. It later passed to the 5th Mechanised Regiment and then to the 6th Armoured Brigade, which used it until 2005.
It joined the museum in 2015. In 2018 the Atena Museum in Skwierzyna restored it to running order and renewed its paintwork. Its first demonstration after this work took place on 15 August 2018 at the Great Independence Picnic. The vehicle’s history therefore also includes the conservators who brought a worn machine back to life years after its military service had ended.

This T-72 was built in Gliwice in 1985. It is low, with sloping armour. Three soldiers worked inside: the commander, gunner and driver-mechanic. An automatic loader, a device that feeds ammunition, carried out part of the work.
The tank served in several Polish units. The last unit listed in its history was the 6th Armoured Brigade, which used it until 2005. Ten years later it came to Drzonów. In 2018 specialists from the Atena Museum in Skwierzyna repaired it and renewed its paintwork. Its first demonstration after restoration took place on 15 August that year. The historic machine could move again.
