About

Městské muzeum Dvůr Králové nad Labem

Dvůr Králové nad Labem Municipal Museum tells the town’s story through everyday objects, documents and locally manufactured goods. In the Baroque complex of Kohoutův dvůr, archaeological finds meet the history of textiles. A copy of the Dvůr Králové Manuscript, an old town banner and a model of the medieval town form part of the historical collection. A reconstruction of Josef Sochor’s study and material relating to Tiba and Juta explore work in the textile industry.

A separate exhibition presents Christmas ornament production, from glass beads and blowing to decoration, hangers and packing. The sample room brings together regional products from the 1930s to the present. At nábřeží Jiřího Wolkera 132, a textile printing branch occupies former school workshops. Original machines and sample books are accompanied by a small hand-printing workshop. Founded in 1891, the museum collects these objects as evidence of the history of the town and its surroundings.

For children

In this museum we learn about the town through things people used and made. There is a model of old streets, a town banner, toys and cameras. Josef Sochor’s study and objects relating to Tiba and Juta tell the story of textile factories. The collections occupy former farm buildings called Kohoutův dvůr.

Another section shows how glass Christmas ornaments are made. They have to be shaped, decorated, fitted with a hanger and packed. Finished designs can be compared in the museum’s sample room. A separate branch at nábřeží Jiřího Wolkera 132 contains textile printing machines. In a small workshop, visitors can print their own design with a handmade block. All these sections belong to the municipal museum, whose history began in 1891.
