Městské muzeum Lanškroun
Městské muzeum Lanškroun collects traces of the town’s history in its castle and former castle stables. Founded on 27 October 1905, the institution initially occupied two rooms on today’s A. Jiráska Square. After several moves, it found a permanent home in the castle. The renovated premises opened with a new town-history exhibition on 5 September 1992.
The collections range from stone remnants of old buildings to the work of figures associated with the region. The lapidarium preserves elements of Erxleben’s former pharmacy. Zdeněk Kolářský’s cabinet contains coins, medals and sculptures, while “Altamira” presents Lubomír Šilar’s ceramics. Jindřich Praveček’s room is devoted to the composer and conductor. Lanškroun’s industrial history is explored in “Od doutníků ke kondenzátorům”, running from 5 September 2026 to 31 January 2027.
Since 25 May 2026, renovation work has closed the permanent town-history exhibition and Emperor Franz Joseph I’s room until further notice. The remaining displays are open; the lapidarium is accessible from April to October. “Karel Komínek - 100” is scheduled for 26 September-15 November 2026.

At Městské muzeum Lanškroun, objects introduce the history of the town. There are stone parts of old houses, coins and medals, ceramic animals and a room devoted to a musician. The museum was founded in 1905. Today it uses the castle and its former stables, a building once intended for horses.
Lubomír Šilar made the ceramics, while Zdeněk Kolářský designed coins, medals and sculptures. A memorial room tells the story of composer and conductor Jindřich Praveček. “Od doutníků ke kondenzátorům”, running from 5 September 2026 to 31 January 2027, explores the transformation of a tobacco factory into a plant producing electronic components.
Not all rooms are accessible. Renovation work has closed the town-history exhibition and Emperor Franz Joseph I’s room since 25 May 2026, until further notice. The lapidarium, a collection of stone objects, opens from April to October. The Karel Komínek exhibition runs from 26 September to 15 November 2026.
