About the exhibition

The exhibition opened in 2008 through cooperation between the town and Libor Hovorka, its author and the owner of the objects on display. Eight years later, it was refocused on products made in Nové Město nad Metují. More than 120 exhibits cover successive chapters of local watchmaking.

The Spartak prototypes represent the start of wristwatch production, while PRIM Sport introduces a model also worn by sportspeople. The collection includes elegant Diplomat watches, Aeskulap nurses' watches with a pulse-rate scale, and clocks used in Škoda RTO buses. These different uses explain how a timepiece's dial and form could support tasks beyond simply telling the time.
