About

The reconstructed burial from Ługi presents a find from Góra County. It is an inhumation burial, meaning that the deceased's remains survived as bones. The museum display recreates the arrangement of the find, allowing it to be viewed as a group of related elements. A warrior was buried here with weapons. The presence of arms is an important part of how the grave and the person buried in it are described.

The same burial contained a horse with riding equipment. The combination of human and animal remains with their associated objects is the reconstruction's defining feature. Clay vessels also belonged to the assemblage. Looking at the whole display, distinguish the remains from the objects placed in the grave: weapons, riding equipment and vessels have different roles here. The reconstruction draws attention to relationships that can easily be missed when objects are displayed separately.

For children

The grave from Ługi was found in Góra County. The museum shows a reconstruction, which recreates the arrangement of the find. A warrior was buried here with weapons. It was an inhumation grave, in which bones survived.

Beside the person was a horse with riding equipment. The grave also contained clay vessels. Look at these elements together. They help explain why archaeologists record not only what they find, but also where the finds lie in relation to one another. There is no need to invent the warrior's story to notice the unusual group of objects in the grave.
