About

The Ceramics Museum's new home officially opened on 3 April 2024. The opening concluded a project undertaken since 2021 by the municipality of Bolesławiec, the Ceramics Museum and Telemark Museum in Skien.

The project combined the palace conversion with bringing Bolesławiec and Norway's Porsgrunn into international cooperation along the European Route of Ceramics. It thus connected two ceramic centres and their museum collections, extending beyond the renovation of a historic building.

The opening introduced permanent exhibitions presenting historic and contemporary Bolesławiec ceramics against the background of the city's history. Two temporary exhibitions accompanied them: Italian faience from Deruta and Faenza, and Norwegian porcelain from Porsgrunn. These displays were prepared for the 2024 opening.

International cooperation also featured in the ceremony. Karen Kjeøen Erikstad of Telemark Museum sang Norwegian folk melodies in traditional dress, while the palace facade became a screen for a historical presentation using laser mapping. After the show, visitors entered the new exhibition spaces.
