About the exhibition

The visit begins with a soap-making workshop. Participants make their own bar of soap, then join the guided tour while it sets.

The exhibition includes a reconstructed medieval bathhouse, a 19th-century bathroom and historic equipment for washing, bathing and laundry. Mangles, washing machines, dryers and soaps from different countries introduce objects used in everyday cleaning. The guide's account follows the history of hygiene from antiquity to the present.
