Phonographic Exhibition
Three themed zones - radio, television and gramophone - tracing the growth of Polish radio, television and sound recording.
Content language
Radio, television and gramophones occupy three distinct sections in this exhibition. The radio section traces Polish radio history from 1918. Its receivers were made both in Poland and abroad, so the story extends beyond the products of any single domestic manufacturer. Reproductions of photographs and historical newspaper advertisements provide further material on the history of radio.
The television section includes a prototype Polish television set from 1947. Receivers from later periods accompany it, including the Belweder model.
The third section concerns recording and reproducing sound on discs. It presents gramophones from the museum's collection, including its oldest example, dating from the early 20th century. That object predates the starting point of the radio section's story. Under the exhibition's shared title, each section has its own focus: receiving radio broadcasts, television images and playing recorded sound.
