About

An enlarged bird’s egg reveals structures hidden when looking at the shell alone. Eggs from different species accompany the model, providing specimens for comparison. The exhibition also introduces ornithology, the study of birds, and the question of their origins, which gives this display its theme. It is the opening part of the museum’s ornithological presentation.

A separate topic explores different types of nests. Together with the eggs and the model of their interior, they tell a story about birds through concrete aspects of their lives. Rather than concentrating on the appearance of adults, the display includes their beginnings and breeding places. When comparing the exhibits, visitors can distinguish actual eggs from different species from the enlarged model used to explain internal structure.

For children

What is inside a bird’s egg? An enlarged model of its interior helps show the answer. The model is a teaching aid. Beside it are eggs from different bird species, so the display is not limited to a single familiar kind of egg.

This part of the exhibition also explores different types of nests and the origins of birds. It introduces ornithology, the name for the science of birds. As the opening part of the museum’s bird displays, it combines information with objects to examine. Eggs, nests and the model present different sides of one subject. An actual specimen and an enlarged model offer different ways of learning about birds.
