About the exhibition

Portraiture, embroidery and painted fabric serve different purposes in the salons. The officers' gallery in the Main Salon reflects the Koháry family's connections. Painted arcades accompany Baroque seating in the Music Salon, while the Roman Salon has imperial busts painted on a textile wall covering.

The Chinese Salon pairs silk with a Japanese lacquered cabinet. The State Dining Room adds ceremonial dining and dynastic portraits. These five interiors connect decorative craftsmanship with social display: their furnishings surrounded the owners as they received guests, dined and entertained.
