Ogród Zoologiczny ZOO Wojciechów
In Romanówka near Wojciechów, a former farm has become a zoo bringing together animals with very different ways of life. Wojciechów Zoo opened in 2011. Its earliest residents were mainly farm animals, including donkeys, goats and cattle. Big cats, primates and other exotic species later joined the collection. Enclosures were enlarged, aviaries renovated and service facilities modernised in 2020. The following year, the institution received zoological garden status.
Across roughly four hectares, the collection brings together stories of savannas, tropical forests, dry parts of Asia and northern tundra. Lions, leopards and jaguars illustrate contrasting lives as predators: social, tree-associated and closely linked to water. Among the primates, ring-tailed lemurs’ striped tails, mandrills’ colourful faces and small tamarins’ white crests stand out.
Red kangaroos and Bactrian camels introduce life in open, dry country. Scarlet ibises and snowy owls extend the comparison to birds, wetlands and the cold north. The collection provides opportunities to compare body structures, feeding methods and care for young. A playground and resting areas accompany the animal collection, allowing breaks during a walk.
For children
This zoo began on a farm. When Wojciechów Zoo opened in 2011, its earliest residents were mainly donkeys, goats and cattle. Other animals gradually joined them. Enclosures and aviaries were improved, and in 2021 the site received zoological garden status.
Today in Romanówka you can discover animals that live in very different places in the wild. Lions live in prides, leopards climb trees and jaguars swim extremely well. A ring-tailed lemur has a striped tail, a mandrill a colourful face and a tamarin a white crest.
Kangaroos, camels, ibises and snowy owls introduce more ways of coping with life in nature. A tail can help with hopping, a bill with finding food in mud and thick feathers with keeping out the cold. Every animal has its own features and habits. The zoo also has resting places and a playground, so there is room for a break between encounters.
