Park Miniatur Zabytków Dolnego Śląska
In Kowary, castle roofs and church towers can be viewed from a perspective that would require flight at the real buildings. Models at a scale of 1 to 25 present Lower Silesian architecture: residences, monasteries, town halls and former craft workshops. The collection also includes Czech and German monuments, among them Frýdlant and Görlitz.
The park was established in 2003 on the grounds of a former carpet factory. Alongside models of individual buildings is a miniature Karkonosze mountain range with trails and mountain huts. Planting surrounds the monuments, while figures depict small scenes of everyday life. Modelmakers use techniques and materials suited to outdoor display; visitors can see how miniatures are made in the workshop.
The park’s guides tell the stories of the buildings and their legends. Norway’s Wang Church, Czocha’s remodelling and the paper mill in Duszniki connect small models with real monuments. Bach’s music accompanies the Krzeszów basilica model, and benches stand beside a pond with a fountain.
For children
The castles in this park are so small that you can look down at their roofs. A scale of 1:25 means that a building’s length has been reduced twenty-five times. The models represent real palaces, churches and town halls from Lower Silesia, Czechia and Germany.
The park opened in 2003 on the site of a former carpet factory. Alongside buildings and towers is a model of the Karkonosze Mountains, with walking trails and mountain huts. Plants grow among the miniatures, and small figures depict scenes of everyday life. Details of the buildings are made in the modelmaking workshop.
The guides explain the stories of real monuments and tell legends. Wang Church came from Norway, and the Duszniki mill once made paper. Bach’s music plays beside the Krzeszów basilica model. Benches by a pond with a fountain provide a place to rest.
