About the exhibition

Detva v kontexte Vígľašského panstva traces the origins of the castle and its estate, followed by Detva's history as a dependent settlement and later a market town. It covers the fourteenth to the twentieth century. Written documents and photographs are accompanied by archaeological finds from Kalamárka and Vígľaš Castle.

The two selected points show different foundations of the settlement's development. The facsimile of the 1811 charter explains its rights to hold markets and fairs. Glassware represents production at Podpoľanie's glassworks. Rights granted by a ruler and objects made by craftspeople complement one another in this account of the local economy.
