About the exhibition

Henry I of Jawor founded a home whose later history can be read in its walls and decoration. The tower's story covers its construction, defences, successive owners and rebuilding after the fire of 1575.

These themes connect the ducal residence with a monument rediscovered and treated by conservators. The uncovering of the paintings, their misguided repainting and modern documentation also show how approaches to studying the building have changed. The surviving structure of the tower remains the main witness.
