Sobre la pieza

The coach house and the stable standing opposite it across the courtyard were built in 1776, right after the palace was completed. They were originally wooden and have been brick since 1801. Their careful architecture was a matter of prestige: until almost the end of the 18th century, ceremonial teams were part of court ritual and showed the owner's standing.

The coach house opened to visitors in 1987. The only vehicle from Rogalin's pre-war holdings is a restored coupé carriage. The others, mostly from Greater Poland workshops, form a typical set for a landed residence at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries: a field cart, two light carriages known locally as "parkowce", an "American" with back-to-back seats, wolanty, two victorias, a landau and several carriages, including a wedding carriage and a Munich one.

The collection also includes an outing sleigh, two 18th-century sedan chairs used in crowded towns, a plauka, a hackney carriage and a droshky. The walls display breast-collar harnesses for farm and leisure vehicles and elegant English collar harnesses for travelling carriages. Trunks, chests and a foot warmer for sleigh rides from the Wianuża estate near Vilnius complete the display.
