Langue du contenu
Gołubie’s new arboretum opened in 2015. It is a collection of trees and shrubs, inviting visitors to examine both leaves and whole plant silhouettes. Branching patterns, crown height and the arrangement of shoots offer useful features for comparing specimens.
The garden carries out phenological observations: records of seasonal changes in plant life. These follow the rhythm of development through the year. The acclimatisation of species from other regions is studied as well. Growing them in Kashubia makes it possible to follow how plants from distant places respond to local conditions.
Each taxon has records of its origin, planting and care. Plant labels give the botanical family and the Polish and Latin names. A walk among the trees can therefore become a comparison of related species. For researchers, knowing what grows in the collection matters alongside where it came from and how it developed over successive seasons.
