Wróblin was a floating workplace for building and repairing waterway structures. It was built in 1938-1939 at the A. Riedel shipyard in Fürstenberg on the Oder. For many years it took part in repairs to barrages and bridges, and after the war it also raised sunken vessels from the Old Oder.

Its hull was designed around the crane equipment. The 11-metre jib and its machinery house could rotate through a full circle. Lifting capacity was 8 tonnes. An onboard engine-driven generator supplied the equipment with 110-volt direct current.

The vessel never had its own propulsion for travelling along the river. It was initially towed; from the mid-1960s it was moved as part of a pushed convoy. This change in transport arrangements made it possible to remove the steering gear, which was no longer needed.

Wróblin worked on the construction of the Brzeg Dolny barrage in 1954-1958, including its weir, lock and the Wały power station. Its workshop and generator were also preserved in the museum collection.

Gyerekeknek

Wróblin is a crane that floats on water. It was built in 1938-1939 in Fürstenberg on the Oder. It helped repair bridges and structures that regulate the river. After the war it also lifted sunken boats from the water. It worked on the Brzeg Dolny barrage between 1954 and 1958.

Its jib was 11 metres long and could turn all the way around. It lifted loads weighing up to eight tonnes. An onboard generator, driven by a combustion engine, produced electricity for the machinery. That did not mean Wróblin could sail under its own power. It had no propulsion to move its hull: it was first towed and later pushed by another vessel. Combining a floating hull with a crane made it possible to carry out heavy work directly on the water.
