The museum building is a replica of an eighteenth-century timber-framed house. It was built as a new home for the regional collections, with work beginning in May 1996. The project was led by the Friends of Ustka Association, founded by local volunteers in 1993. Its growing collection of memorabilia and objects needed a permanent home, which the association had previously lacked.
Association members, residents and students from the local technical school took part in construction as volunteers. Local businesses and authorities also supported the project, while festivals and charity events raised further funds. The building itself records a shared undertaking that preceded the opening of the displays.
On 27 June 2000, the museum welcomed visitors. Two exhibition rooms were created inside: a permanent display of town history and shipyard memorabilia on the ground floor, and a temporary exhibition room upstairs. The attic became the headquarters of the Friends of Ustka Association. Alongside exhibitions, the museum has hosted meetings of associations and discussions about the town and region.

This house looks like an old building, but it was built for the museum. It is a replica of an eighteenth-century timber-framed house: a recreation of a building with a wooden framework in its walls. Work began in May 1996. The Friends of Ustka Association, active since 1993, organised the project. It collected objects from the town and needed a permanent place for them.
Residents, association members and technical-school students helped with construction. They volunteered their time without payment. Businesses and local authorities supported the project, and money was also raised at festivals and charity events.
The museum opened on 27 June 2000. A permanent exhibition about Ustka and its shipyard was arranged on the ground floor. The upper floor hosts changing exhibitions, and the attic became the association's headquarters. The building also hosts meetings of residents and organisations connected with the town.
