O exponáte

The TS-11 Iskra was developed in Poland as a jet aircraft for pilot training. Tadeusz Sołtyk led the design work, and the prototype first flew in 1960. As the intended Polish engine was not yet ready, the first flying prototype used a British Viper 8. The museum aircraft represents the later bis B variant and is identified by the number 726.

This version introduced improved radio and radio-navigation equipment, disc brakes and four underwing attachment points for external equipment. The changes therefore affected the tools available to pilots and ground crews, as well as the aircraft's appearance. A total of 134 bis B aircraft were built between 1969 and 1974. The museum example carries the marking “2”, associated with the Biało-Czerwone Iskry aerobatic team.

Pre deti

The Iskra is a Polish jet aircraft designed for teaching people to fly. Tadeusz Sołtyk led the design team. The first flying prototype, an aircraft used to test the design, took to the air in 1960. The intended Polish engine was not ready yet, so the prototype received a British Viper 8 engine.

The museum has a later version called the bis B, identified by the number 726. Its radio and equipment for helping pilots find their way were improved. It also received disc brakes and four attachment points beneath the wings for extra equipment. New aircraft versions therefore involved more than changes to their appearance.

The Iskra bis B was built between 1969 and 1974. A total of 134 were made. The museum aircraft carries the marking “2”, associated with Biało-Czerwone Iskry. This is an aerobatic team whose pilots give displays of flying skills.
