House of the Silesian Apothecary
The house that accommodated a pharmacy for centuries underwent a long transformation before becoming a museum.

The House of the Silesian Apothecary had a connection with pharmacy long before the museum was established. With Renaissance and Neoclassical features, the building served as both a home and a workplace for apothecaries. A pharmacy operated here from the 13th century until 1951. After nationalisation, the business moved elsewhere, while the old building acquired other uses and gradually deteriorated.
The building was taken over in stages; 1991 is used as a simplified date for this process. Converting the house into a museum took decades. Renovation began in 1982. Later work included conserving wooden ceilings, replacing the roof, installing heating and altering the interior. Funding ran out in 2006 and work stopped.
A grant secured in 2010 for the project named after the apothecary's house helped complete the conversion. The museum opened in autumn 2011. The former workplace became a setting for pharmacy furniture, vessels and equipment, alongside the history of knowledge about medicines.

Apothecaries lived and worked in this house for centuries. A pharmacy operated here from the 13th century until 1951. It then moved to another building, and the old house gradually fell into disrepair.

Among other tasks, the wooden ceilings and roof were repaired and heating was installed. When money ran out in 2006, the work stopped. Funding received in 2010 helped finish it. The museum opened in autumn 2011. Objects connected with making medicines went on display in the former apothecary's home.
