Club Café with the Żuk Van
A communist-era club café with screenings of cartoons and newsreels, and a Żuk van once used to deliver gingerbread.
Jazyk obsahu
The PRL-era club café presents post-war everyday life associated with gingerbread. Its screen shows children's animation and archival newsreels of Toruń's gingerbread factory. Factory work is recorded on film: visitors see people and a working plant, rather than only stationary machinery on display.
The other element in this part of the exhibition is a Żuk, a delivery van used to take gingerbread to shops. Visitors can sit in its driver's seat. Deliveries came after the sweets had been prepared, baked and packed. The vehicle represents that stage of their journey, between the factory and the shop.
Post-war products came from the plant named Kopernik in 1951. The company continued production in Jakubskie Przedmieście. The café, films and delivery van relate to this later period of the story, after the era of the Weese family owners.
