The exhibition covers more than 400 m² on the first floor of the new wing and consists of six sections. The first spans the period from the 10th to the end of the 18th century: archaeological finds, a heraldic cartouche, a coffin portrait, sacred sculpture and Luther's Bible, alongside a multimedia model of the city and the region.
The part on the 19th and early 20th centuries focuses on cloth-making, winemaking and industrialisation, including Georg Beuchelt's steel structures factory of 1876. Its backdrop is an almost 12-metre panorama of Zielona Góra based on a photograph from 1897.
A separate section on 1945 shows more than a hundred objects, documents and accounts of the great migrations. The exhibition then tells of the post-war city, its promotion to regional capital in 1950 and the conflict over the Catholic House in 1960, while the timeline gathers more than a hundred everyday objects from the 13th to the 20th century.
