About

In 1818 the 17-year-old Augusta Arend met Prince August of Prussia, a nephew of King Frederick II. The first of their seven children, Malwina, was born in 1819, and one of the Przelewice manor farms, today the village of Ślazowo, was later named after her. In 1821 Prince August of Prussia bought the Przelewice estate for Maria Augusta Arend, the daughter of a Berlin merchant. Four years later he secured her ennoblement, and from then on she bore the name von Prillwitz. In 1835 the prince commissioned a family mausoleum, designed by Karl Friedrich Schinkel.

Inside stood an altar of black marble and the coffins of Augusta von Prillwitz and three of her children: August (1825-1826), Louisa (1830-1831) and a second August, who died in 1849 at the age of 21.

The building survived intact until 1945. According to accounts, Soviet soldiers searching for valuables broke down the door and smashed the coffins, and in the summer of 1945 the remains were gathered and cremated opposite the mausoleum. In the first post-war years the building served as a store for fuel and oil.
