About

At 8 Lennox Gardens in London, Edward Bernard Raczyński, President of Poland in Exile and the last male member of the Greater Poland line of the family, spent 26 years of his life. In his study he received official guests, friends and family. The study was recreated at Rogalin after the Raczyński family gave its complete furnishings to the Raczyński Foundation at the National Museum in Poznań.

Despite losing his sight, Raczyński worked here on translating from French the memoirs of his relative Wirydiana Fiszerowa, published in 1975 as "Dzieje moje własne i osób postronnych". His daughters and grandchildren read newspapers and books to him in the study.

The room is filled with old furniture, family photographs, surviving portraits of ancestors and views of the Raczyński residences, including the Rogalin palace. There is also a photograph of the signing of the Polish-British mutual assistance treaty, autographed by those present. The anteroom shows mementoes of his brother, Roger Adam Raczyński, including the diplomatic tailcoat from his time as Polish ambassador to Romania. The same wing houses the ancestors' gallery of Atanazy Raczyński of Gaj Mały.
