Jan Potocki Tradition Education Centre: Former Riding Hall

The former Riding Hall was built in the 19th century as a place for learning to ride horses. It is now part of the Jan Potocki Tradition Education Centre. It displays a collection of horse-drawn vehicles assembled by the museum after the Second World War. Some carriages stand on a raised structure whose mirrored underside also provides overhead views of the vehicles below.
This is a separate exhibition from the Coach House and its historic Potocki collection. The vehicles include a small children’s carriage from the turn of the 20th century, once drawn by goats. The building has also served other purposes: after the war it stored grain and later became a sports hall. The museum suggests allowing about 40 minutes for the exhibition. The Riding Hall has a separate ticket and timetable. It is also open during the Castle’s winter break, subject to public-holiday closures.

People once learned to ride horses in this building. Today, instead of riders practising, you can see horse-drawn vehicles. The museum assembled this collection after the Second World War. It is displayed separately from the Potocki family’s historic carriages in the Coach House. Some vehicles stand higher up on a special structure. A mirror beneath it helps you see the carriages below from above. There is also a small children’s carriage once drawn by goats. The building changed its purpose: after the war it stored grain and later became a sports hall. It is now part of the Jan Potocki Tradition Education Centre. A visit requires a separate ticket and usually takes about forty minutes. You can also plan a visit during the Castle’s winter break, checking the Riding Hall’s own opening times and closure dates.
